Detection Dogs in Conservation

June 30, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

In this month’s webinar, we’ll be joined by Louise Wilson, Director of Conservation K9 Consultancy, as she outlines the role detection dogs play in mammal conservation. Hear from Louise in this online session as she talks about providing the best dog teams for wildlife projects and how her team are creating the next generation of effective, efficient, all trained, welfare driven dog teams to help with wildlife monitoring.

Louise has over 20 years experience training and teaching dog teams worldwide and handling a range of detection dogs in over ten different scent disciplines (Explosives, Drugs, Cash, Tobacco, Wildlife Crime, Conservation, Cadaver and much more). Louise introduced conservation dogs to the U.K. back in 2008 and has been promoting the professional use of detection dogs for ecology and conservation ever since!

Louise is an international consultant and mentor helping develop the best standards with a dog-centered approach to detection dog training/handling in conservation and beyond. In 2022, Louise also founded the “Advisors for the use of detection dogs in conservation” with a board of world-renowned experts and advocates.

This event will be held on the 30th of June 2023 at 12:00 GMT via Zoom. Tickets are free, and any donations will go towards the conservation work of the Mammal Society.
