Getting Involved with the Mountain Hare Survey – Mammal Society Free Webinar Series

Are you based in the Highlands? Or are you visiting this Summer to enjoy the spectacular scenery? Why not help collect vital data to inform conservation while you’re out and about in the hills and moors?

Join the Mammal Society for this free webinar to find out how you can get involved with Volunteer Mountain Hare Survey!

This half an hour webinar will tell you everything you need to know about our Volunteer Mountain Hare Survey, with a brief introduction to mountain hares from Senior Scientist at Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust, Dr. Scott Newey, followed by a walkthrough of the survey by Mammal Society CEO, Matt Larsen-Daw.

Learn why, when and how to take part in this important volunteer-led wildlife survey in the Highlands of Scotland – as a one-off rambler on holiday, or a local resident undertaking regular surveying of a local site. It would be helpful to have the Mammal Mapper app installed on your device before attending this session.

More information on the Mountain Hare Survey can be found here.

This webinar is particularly relevant to those who live in, near or are planning to visit the Scottish Highlands, but anyone who is interested in surveying is encouraged to join!

This event will be held on the 26th of July 2023 at 12:00 GMT via Zoom. Tickets are free, and any donations will go towards the conservation work of the Mammal Society.
