2018 Training Brochure

The 2018 Training Brochure is here. Our training courses are for everyone, from interested individuals, to conservationists and ecological consultants, who want to develop their knowledge, field skills and experience for personal interest or professional development. From species introduction courses, to practical field-craft weekends, mammal identification and survey techniques, we focus on ecology & biology, law, technical skills, handling & surveying.

What do course attendees have to say:

Dormouse Ecology and Conservation

"The course was very well presented, and covered everything I hoped it would and more. The information was partitioned into logical themes with breaks for coffee/lunch built in, overall the classroom based learning element moved at a good pace for the attendees. The Birch Volunteers demonstrated how to check a dormouse box and handle a dormouse clearly, and with complete consideration for the animal. Very informative and enjoyable day. Thank you."

"The obvious enthusiasm for, and knowledge of, their subject demonstrated by the trainers, who were very prepared to share their considerable expertise and experience with course attendees."

Mammal Identification Weekend

"A great course with a nice mix of ages and interests taking part. Instruction was enthusiastic and very thorough, we covered a wide range of subjects with a good mix of outdoor and indoor work. I can highly recommend this weekend for anyone with a professional or leisure interest in British small mammals."
