Bat recording tools

Ecobat

Ecobat is a free online tool that gives context to acoustic data recorded from bat surveys. Users upload their data and receive a report which gives a wide range of tables and graphs to explain more about the data they’ve collected compared to bat records already held in the Ecobat database. In 2021, we are launching a new sister app: Count Bat, which will provide the same service but for data recorded at roost sites.

Ecobat requires an account to use the tool. Request an account creation here.

Count Bat

Count Bat is the sister app of the Mammal Society Ecobat tool but instead of providing context to your acoustic bat data, Count Bat works on bat counts recorded at roosts. Perhaps you've recorded 100 common pipistrelles at a roost. What does this mean? Is that a lot of common pipistrelles? Maybe it's a small number? Put your recording into Count Bat and it will compare your number of bats to how many were recorded for that species across the country or closer to home. You can also select to only compare your roost to records in the same region, or that were recorded during the same time of year.

Bat Carcass Recorder

Eurobats requires member states to submit information on bat casualties at wind farms in order to monitor the potential impacts across Europe and neighbouring countries. Please supply evidence from your sites by filling a proforma and submitting it to the app below.
