Mammal Poo Detectives

Our child-friendly guide to mammal poos will give young people (and old!) a new way to explore and identify the mammals roaming unseen in their local landscape. This digital book is packed with facts and guidance, alongside activity sheets to embed learning, or just for a fun challenge at home. This resource were created by our wonderful volunteers Susanna Ramsey (The Nature Collection) and Derek Crawley.

Animal Poo Detectives is a fun, hands-on activity that gets students thinking like wildlife scientists—without the mess! Instead of working with real samples, students use modelling clay to create realistic replicas of animal poo. This safe and reusable approach encourages research, observation, and scientific inquiry, especially in environments where real-life examples are hard to find. This resource was created by our wonderful volunteer Susan Young.
