National #MammalWeek is here! 20-28 October 2018

National #MammalWeek is organised by the Mammal Society as a celebration and awareness week of mammals and their conservation in Great Britain.

This year’s dates are Saturday 20 – Sunday 28 October (inclusive).

So, what happens during National #MammalWeek?

This week is a chance to raise awareness of Britain's mammals and the conservation issues they face.

Every day, beginning with Saturday 20 October, our blog will focus on a particular species. Each day we will give you tips and information on the day’s featured mammal as well as access to downloadable fact sheet and field signs and sightings sheets. Keep an eye on the website and social media for these!

In addition, you can participate by:

  • taking part in our Autumn Hedgehog survey #HogWatch2018;
  • downloading our Mammal Mapper app and record signs and sightings on your walk/bike ride;
  • checking out our events calendar for mammal themed events and courses to attend around the country and;
  • entering a photo in our 2018 Mammal Photographer of the Year competition - launches on Wednesday 24 October so watch this space!

All week you can save 10% on all Mammal Society books with NHBS and take advantage of our special free postage offer on our clothing range with Teemills (be sure to use the code mammalweek in the "coupon code" space in your bag before checking out).

Don’t forget to keep up with #MammalWeek news by following us on social media - all links below.

Wherever you are you can submit mammal records this #MammalWeek even if you don’t have a smartphone. Visit our Mammal Records page for more details of how to do this. We’d like to make this the biggest week ever for mammal records in the UK!
