Recording small mammals with Hull Mammal Group

Enjoy nature while learning about local wildlife! As part of National Mammal Week, the Hull Mammal Group is hosting an event with the Local Nature Reserve team to celebrate small mammals.

Join us in exploring the country park and creating your own footprint tunnel to record small mammal tracks! Learn how to identify small mammal footprints and collect mammal data.

Footprint tunnels offer an accessible and non-invasive approach to surveying the presence of hedgehogs and other small mammals in your local environment. Creating and setting footprint tunnels is a fun and educational activity that can engage the whole family while contributing valuable data to local wildlife conservation efforts.

All materials for the tunnels will be provided, but supplies are limited, so attendees may be grouped together to create tunnels.

The Hull Mammal Group is part of the Mammal Society's Local Groups Newwork, focused on mammal recording and conservation. We are open to anyone in and around Hull, no background in science or conservation required!

Public toilets available in the car park.

Meet: Humber Bridge Country Park Local Nature Reserve HU13 0HB (The event is in the meadows of the country park. Park in the Foreshore car park and meet at the black mill. We will wait for 5 minutes for people to arrive and lead everyone to the meadows. If you arrive late follow the signs to the meadow.)
