I had the privilege of visiting Mankwe Wildlife Reserve, South Africa, and working alongside species such as White Rhinoceros, Giraffe, and Zebra, which sparked my interest in Environmental Sciences. I assisted volunteers and university groups in conservation management and demonstrated my passion for nature conservation. Seeing how wildlife populations fluctuate due to habitat destruction, illegal wildlife trade, and environmental factors inspired me to study BSc (Hons) Animal Management (Zoo and Wildlife) at the University of Derby and MSc Environmental Leadership and Management at the University of Nottingham.

I enjoyed modules such as ‘Wildlife Conservation’, ‘Biodiversity & Ecology,’ and ‘Ecosystem Function, Management & Conservation.’ I produced two reports analysing the UK population status and management methods for the endangered Eurasian Red Squirrel. For my BSc dissertation, I studied ‘Trends in the Abundancy and Diversity of Wild Birds Feeding within a Rural, Suburban, and Urban Garden in Derbyshire,’ researching urbanisation’s effect on UK birdlife.
