“I grew up in Lancashire where, when not studying, I spent my time exploring the fields & coastline and being surrounded by nature. I first saw a wild Water Vole at WWT Martin Mere near Southport. Since those early days my life and career have taken me via Sussex and Surrey to our current home in the Cairngorms National Park, where I see Red Squirrels in the garden daily along with irregular visits from roe deer, hedgehogs and brown hares. Following a career in financial services I have moved to Scotland, where I carry our ecological surveys as a seasonal contractor. I have contributed to many Citizen Science projects on the basis that ' you can't protect it, if you don't know it is there'. Before joining the Mammal Society I contributed to the Mammals on Road Survey for many years via the PTES. Since then I have contributed records direct to the Mammal Society and switched to Mammal Mapper when it became available - I've submitted just over 1300 records at the time of writing via the App.”
