National Mammal Week celebrates mammal diversity
From April 22nd to 28th, National Mammal Week returns, dedicated to raising awareness and promoting conservation of British mammals. Hosted by the Mammal Society, this year the spotlight is on celebrating the rich diversity of both mammalian species and the individuals who dedicate their lives to studying them. Throughout the week-long event, the focus will be shedding light on the stories of often overlooked and underrepresented mammals.
Exploring the past and future of mammal conservation, the week's agenda spans the largely untold history of mammalogy to the future of mammal science and conservation. These discussions underscore the importance of diversity in conservation, emphasising the pivotal role each of us plays in ensuring the thriving future of mammal populations. National Mammal Week advocates for the collective involvement of all, recognising the necessity of different perspectives, voices, and ideas.
From educational webinars and panels featuring leading writers and thinkers, to practical initiatives like the Big Mammal Week Challenge, there's something for everyone to get involved in.
