Are you passionate about wildlife conservation and skilled in communication? The Mammal Society is seeking 2-3 dedicated Communications Volunteers to help amplify our message, engage with our community, and support our mission to protect British mammals. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your communication skills, gain experience in the charity sector, and make a meaningful impact to conservation efforts.

Responsibilities

As a Communications Volunteer, you will have the flexibility to choose from a variety of tasks and projects based on your interests and skills. Potential responsibilities include:

  • Developing engaging content for our social media platforms, website, newsletters, and press releases

  • Creating visually appealing graphics and materials to support our communication efforts

  • Assisting in updating and maintaining our website content to keep it fresh and engaging, including updating the species profiles on our website, which includes researching (sourcing and citing information correctly), writing, and editing copy to ensure accuracy and readability

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn)

  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva)

  • Passion for wildlife conservation and the mission of the Mammal Society

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Previous experience in communications, marketing, or public relations is a plus but not required

Commitment

Variable, ranging from 1-2 hours on an ad hoc basis to more regular volunteering. You can contribute as much or as little as you are able to in any particular week. This role is very open and flexible, allowing you to get involved in various ways that suit your interests and availability. Just tell us when you would like to volunteer!
