Post-doctoral Scientific Officer
Applications are invited for a two-year post-doctoral scientific officer position that will focus on investigating key evidence gaps that currently hinder the conservation of British Mammals. This full-time post is available from 1st February 2018, and there is the potential for extension beyond the two years, subject to funding availability and candidate suitability.
The post-holder will be based in at the University of Sussex, Falmer, Brighton, within the research group of Prof. Fiona Mathews.
We are looking for someone with a passion for wildlife conservation who is skilled in landscape ecology and/or population modelling. The post-holder will examine threats to mammal conservation in Britain using multi-species analyses of distribution and change.
The work will involve the use of large-scale datasets and the ideal candidate should have excellent quantitative skills. A good track record of publishing scientific papers will be welcome, and the post-holder must be able to communicate well with a broader audience. He or she must interact effectively with students, members of the public and policy makers, and will be responsible for running the Society’s citizen science projects.
