Nominations for the Mammal Champions Award Now Open!
Nominations for our Mammal Champions Award 2025 are now open!
You are warmly encouraged to submit yourself or your own group for consideration, or to nominate someone else you feel deserves recognition for their efforts to help monitor, protect and restore mammals in the UK. There are no restrictions on what kind of achievement qualifies someone for this award - it could be grassroots volunteering, campaigning, education, fundraising, or art or literature that celebrates and raises awareness of mammals and the issues they face. This award is for anyone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to give their time and energy for the benefit of British mammals (including where the project benefits wildlife generally and not exclusively mammals). We may prioritise celebrating achievements that are creative, unusual and previously unrecognised.
The selection will be made by a panel of Mammal Society staff, Council members and Youth Ambassadors.
There are three categories of Mammal Champion Award:
Individual Mammal Champion (Adult)
Individual Mammal Champion (Under 18)
Champion Mammal Group (Project team / volunteer group / school / class / student group etc)
All award winners will receive a sustainable wooden trophy and £100 of NHBS vouchers and will be invited to receive their award at the prizegiving dinner at the end of the Mammal Society Conference in Bangor on Saturday 29th March (all travel expenses covered). Their achievement will be celebrated in Mammal Society communications and announced to press.
We can consider joint winners for the individual awards in certain cases, for example where a project or campaign has been conceived and delivered by two people as a 'double-act'.
Nominations will be accepted until 9am on Monday 20th January 2025.
