Hazel Dormouse Mitigation

This online session introduces the new Hazel Dormouse Mitigation Handbook, published in March 2025 alongside the updated conservation volume.

Designed for consultants, planners, and decision-makers, the handbook offers detailed guidance on surveys, licensing, mitigation design, and post-development monitoring of the Hazel Dormouse (Muscardinus avellanarius) in the UK.

Speakers:

  • David Wells – Ecologist and lead author, specialising in mitigation and licensing practices.

  • Leonardo Gubert – Ecologist and researcher with extensive experience in dormouse ecology, surveys and mitigation strategies.

The webinar will outline key updates, clarify best practices under current legislation, and include a Q&A session with the authors.

This event will be held via Zoom.Donations received will support the Mammal Society’s ongoing conservation work.
