How does scent influence the behaviour of mammals, from mate choice to identifying clan members?
Join us on Wednesday 18th March at 2pm GMT with Tristram Wyatt to explore pheromones in mammals—chemical signals used in communication—and what they reveal about mate choice, social recognition and animal behaviour. There will be a Q&A at the end where you can ask Tristram any questions you might have about pheromones and chemical communication.
Tristram Wyatt's main research interest is in the evolution of pheromones (molecules used for chemical communication) and animal behaviour. The second edition of his book, Pheromones and Animal Behavior, published by Cambridge University Press in 2014, won the Best Postgraduate Textbook Award of the Royal Society of Biology. His TEDx talk on the Smelly Mystery of Human Pheromones has been viewed 1.4 million times (with transcripts in 26 languages), and he is also a climate and biodiversity activist with Scientists for Extinction Rebellion.
