Fiona Day
Education & Community Engagement Lead
Fiona leads three key workstreams at the Mammal Society: Training and Events, Youth Engagement, and the Local Groups network. She is passionate about connecting people with wildlife and strongly believes in equitable access to nature.
Alongside her role at the Mammal Society, Fiona serves as a board member for the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority. Appointed by the Welsh Government, Members contribute to the strategic governance of the National Park - a nationally protected landscape designated for its natural beauty, biodiversity and cultural value which she now calls home.
Prior to joining the Mammal Society, Fiona completed a BSc in Biological Sciences at University of Plymouth and recently completed an MSc in Ecology and Sustainability at the Centre for Alternative Technology. Her previous roles in environmental education at Field Studies Council and Farms for City Children focused on sharing her love of wildlife and inspiring others to engage with the natural world.
In her spare time, you’ll find Fiona near the sea, walking her dog on the beach, scanning the horizon for whales and dolphins, or searching for rare birds during spring and autumn migration. She also volunteers as a leader with Girlguiding UK, running a busy Guide unit for girls aged 10–14.
