Hope Nothhelfer

Editorial Lead and Fundraising Officer

I’m a writer and editor exploring how humans relate to the living world. This is my attempt at offering something, anything, to a world in crisis; to a world that has forgotten how to carry attachment to plant, animal, place. As a purpose-driven communicator with over a decade in the field and a background in photographic journalism, she specialises in the third sector with a strong focus on conservation.

At the Mammal Society, I lead on the quality and consistency of our long-form editorial output, including newsletters, journals, magazines, books, and website. I'm also a contributing writer for British Wildlife magazine, sharing the latest in mammal science and conservation. I have also recently stepped into the role of Fundraising Officer.

“Working with, from, and for the more-than-human world has found its way into everything I do. From making friends with wildlife as a child to writing my dissertation on ecological intelligence during a journalism degree, I’ve discovered that it doesn’t matter what I do because I’ll always find a way to integrate my love of the natural world into everything.”

Favourite mammal: Currently, grey-faced sengi (Rhynchocyon udzungwensis)
