Hope Nothhelfer
Editorial Lead
Hope is a writer and editor based in Sussex. She’s also an avid researcher who just wants to spend more time outside—where she feels most at home, most herself. As a purpose-driven communicator with over a decade in the field and a background in photographic journalism, she specialises in the third sector with a strong focus on conservation. She is also the Chair of Sussex Mammal Group.
Beyond marketing, she believes that the way we communicate shapes our understanding of the world, our relationships with others (both human and more-than-human), and ultimately, our quality of life. Hope is an avid researcher and forager, spending her spare time volunteering for other not-for-profits, writing about deep time, kinship, and language, and wandering the woods looking for that yet to be discovered species of fungi.
“Working with, from, and for the more-than-human world has found its way into everything I do. From making friends with wildlife as a child to writing my dissertation on ecological intelligence during a journalism degree, I’ve discovered that it doesn’t matter what I do because I’ll always find a way to integrate my love of the natural world into everything. Whether I’m crafting a story or identifying plants and fungi in the woods, I believe in slow, intentional living.”
Favourite mammal: Grey-faced sengi (elephant shrew)
