What is Mammal Society school membership?

The Mammal Society provides direct support, inspiration and guidance to help schools and colleges engage with real scientific research and conservation. Our member schools help to improve our understanding of mammal populations across the UK, while we support them to realise benefits for science capital, student leadership, outdoor learning, nature connection and more. We work with our member institutions to design and deliver a bespoke programme that suits their educational level, situation and interests.

Mammal Society school membership benefits

The specific support provided to each school depends on their bespoke plan, the delivery of which can be led by students, by a staff member, or a parent volunteer.
A call with a Mammal Society education officer will explore options and ideas to identify a valuable programme of activities and projects for the institution. However the following benefits and opportunities are available to all member schools.

  1. A welcome pack including a school members handbook with information and project ideas, a mammal footprint tunnel making kit, a ‘mammal mascot’ (selected from a range of British mammal figurines), seed bomb activity kit.

  2. 4 seasonal zines that fold out into classroom posters, plus printable activity sheets sent electronically.

  3. Live lesson each term with a Mammal Society expert - topic determined to suit your interest.

  4. Access to free equipment loan scheme to enable school monitoring and habitat creation projects.

  5. Access to exclusive online live and recorded webinars for junior and school members.

  6. A Mammal Society School member digital badge for school/college website and communications.

  7. Listing on the Mammal Society’s website and profile given to your activities and achievements in Mammal Society communications.
